One thing that has driven us nuts over the years is trying to plan what to do each day and still allowing for changes to that schedule. We’ll create an overview for the next month or more, but write down only one week’s worth of daily plans at a time — and always in pencil! You never know when you’ll need to erase an assignment and pencil it in tomorrow instead. Or when you’ll miss today’s read-aloud chapter and have to erase each chapter number in the rest of the week’s assignments and adjust them all.
So we tried to keep those frustrations in mind when building the Daily Plans part of SimplyCharlotteMason. We want you to be able to see what you had originally scheduled for today’s assignments, and whatever you don’t get to today automatically carries over to tomorrow or the next day or whenever you want to get to it. And if (by some strange chance) you happen to do more today than you had originally scheduled, you can easily check off any extra assignments and the Daily Plans will again automatically adjust.
We’re hot on the trail of every homeschool mom’s planning dream: no more erasing!
Update as of 3/1/07: We’re happy to announce that the CM Organizer is now online and has eliminated copying, erasing, and recopying!

OH!!! This got my attention!!! I have loved the other wonderful things you are adding and working to provide through this project, but this one had my name written all over it. I DO HAVE MONTHS of ideas in our book, but only have ONE WEEK IN PENCIL. I tried in March to pencil in the whole month and we had adjustments from day 1…I never erased and so always looked at my planner as some odd jigsaw puzzle. Blessings to you for this project and THANK YOU for the valuable updates.

This is a wonderful idea! I don’t do written planners or lists, so homeschooling becomes “hit or miss” for me. I’m very casual at this point, but my children are younger now, and I can be. I won’t be so lucky as they get older, but I may be in a bad habit of “not planning.” Your idea would really help me keep to a schedule and be sure I’d get things in I wanted to do. I honestly need lists to mark off in every aspect of my life, or things don’t get done. However, I just don’t make the lists. My husband and I are really starting to live off our computers (and PDAs and cells), and this system would fit right in with it all! I love the updates and your ideas! Keep them coming! You give me lots and lots of hope! God Bless!!!
